Burning Man Packing List

I have been to Burning Man for the last 7 years. It is an amazing and trans-formative experience. I have compiled a packing list for you including suggested items you can buy directly at amazon:

Air mask for dust storm breathing:

Night Lighting:

Goggles:

Airfoil polarized are inexpensive and come with light blue tinted lenses that make them usable at night in a pinch. I highly recommend them:

Tent:

The tent you choose is among the most important decisions you’ll be making about your burn. If you choose a canvas tent it’ll be more expensive, but will allow you to sleep later. If you choose a nylon or poly material tent you’ll be sleeping in an oven by 10am.

No matter what tent you get you ALWAYS want to avoid mesh openings that cannot be zipped up. Thanks to the Wal-Mart effect on the products made in America you’ll have difficulty finding a tent with zip up mesh openings. All season, or Four Season are keywords for meshless tents.

Moisturizer

Lip Balm (at least 3 sticks)
Ziploc Bigbag Heavy Duty, 2 Feet x 2.7 Feet, XXL 3 ea (Great for putting your clothes in. Always have a completely dust free set of clothes ziplocked up for the return trip.)
SWEATPROOF Sunblock:

Saline Nasal Spray, 3 oz Bottle, 2-Pack

Kleenex
Garbage Bags that won’t leak/smell in your car: Glad Force Flex Quick-Tie Odor Shield

Coleman Free-Standing Tent Fan

Water Hydration backpack:

These are fantastic. If you don’t get one of these you’ll need to carry a LARGE water bottle with you everywhere. In addition they are a backpack so you can carry things like goggles, lights, maps, moisturizer, lip balm, and all your other stuff in one place.

2 Socks/day (always have socks on unless you are inside your tent)

WARM costumes for night
breathable costumes for day (DO NOT BRING JEANS!!!)
THE Ticket
Portable Battery-Powered AM/FM Radio with Line Input (ipod)

Sun glasses
Hat
Pee bottle (it may be 100 yards to the nearest porta pota from your tent at 4am )

bicycle with fat tires, there is fine dust dunes you’ll need to peedle through.

Camp Stove:

I highly recommend the coleman two burner: Coleman PerfectFlow InstaStart 2-Burner Stove

Camp Cookware:

Texsport Black Ice The Scouter Hard Anodized Cook Set

Peanut butter
Jelly
Loaf of Bread
2 Entemann’s breakfast cakes (Danish/Coffee)
Various foods that don’t require ice (boxed soups, chili, Tasty Bites Indian boil bags)
THE TICKET
20-40 Degree Sleeping Bag: IT GETS COLD AT NIGHT!
Air Matress (Remember the size of your tent, and that you need a battery powered charger.) I usually put two cheap air mattresses on top of each other for double comfort.
